LINking social & physical regeneration

HOW DOES OUR PROPOSAL LINK PHYSICAL AND SOCIAL REGENERATION?

The regeneration of the  Silo-D to create a community hub will bring the community together. It will be a space that can be used as a meeting place, to share ideas and promote local events

HOW CAN WE ENSURE JOBS GO TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY?

The community hub will be run by locals from within the community and jobs can be advertised in the space. Furthermore, employment agents from Newham Council can work with the locals to ensure they are maximising their job opportunities. The good growth fund, a regeneration programme to support growth and community development in London, can be used to guarantee growth is in line with community needs.

TRAINING AND UPGRADING SKILLS WITHIN THE COMMUNITY

Silo-D can be used by the community for workshops and classes. Within the enterprise zone

apprenticeships will be offered, and there will be opportunities to progress within companies.

OPENING UP THE AREA FOR THE COMMUNITY

The public green open space will be opened up to the community first. Silo D will become a

multi-purpose space, for the community.

ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS FOR THE COMMUNITY

There will be a plaza outside Silo-D that can be used for activities and festivals. The community hub can be used to organise and plan such events.

THE PROVISION OF COMMUNITY FACILITIES

Silo-D will be a community facility, with a plaza and open green space nearby.

COMMUNITY OWNERSHIP WITHIN THE AREA

The green space will be a community land trust, owned by the community, for the community. This will be built into the planning agreement.

COMMUNITY PROJECT TO LINK SOCIAL AND PHYSICAL REGENERATION

The addition of a community garden that will help to involve and integrate all members of the community into the area.
